K+,495.00 The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 39.5 is not an "out-there” design at all, it just happens to be its own thing, stemming from it being Omega’s take on the traditional dive watch. Inside the Seamaster Planet Ocean 39.5mm Summer Blue is Omega’s in-house, METAS-certified Caliber 8800 automatic “Co-Axial Master Chronometer.” Anti-magnetic and highly accurate, the caliber 8800 movement operates at 3.5Hz with 55 hours of power reserve.

I was able to visit my local Omega boutique the other day, and while they had the standard Seamaster 300 (42mm), they did not have the 39.5mm Planet Ocean for me to try (they only had the 43.5mm). My question is, has anyone tried both the 39.5mm PO and compared it to the Seamaster 300? From the applied Omega logo and the gloss ceramic dial to the colour-matched datewheel and the liquidmetal bezel; I think the watch just gives off the perfect balance between luxury and toughness that I expect from my watches; smaller size or not.

This year at Baselworld Omega has decided to revamp their old classics. Take the Seamaster Planet Ocean 39.5 mm for example, although this watch is already in existence, it is now available in 39.5 mm and features a new co-axial movement, the caliber 8801/8800 (as opposed to the caliber 8615). Last week we wrote our review of the 2016 OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean 600 M Co-Axial Master Chronometer 43.5mm. This post discusses the new smaller size 39.5mm model on bracelet in both the black and blue dial references. The Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m is a 39.5 mm stainless steel dive watch measuring 14.2mm thick. With 600 meters of water resistance, an engraved case back, and a gradient blue dial, a ceramic bezel, and helium escape valve.

I do prefer the 39.5mm Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean 600m because it’s more comfortable, especially when worn on the metallic bracelet. Well, a watch is supposed to wrap around your wrist, not to sit on top of your wrist. Well, the finishing of the sleek 39.5mm brown ceramic case is excellent. And the deep brown shade looks rich and warm. The unidirectional rotating bezel feels solid and makes a particular sound that differs from other Planet Ocean watches because of the way the ceramic case resonates. The 45.5mm-wide, 17.18mm-thick Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Deep Black watches are carved out of a single block of ceramic and when the watch was introduced in 2016, the near-,000 price tag gave sticker shock to immediate fans and skeptics alike.
