Band is a service replacement last service was Oct. 2013 by the same shop selling it. I trust the shop as they are very well known here but they certainly wouldn't have verified the originality of the dial. I'm a 5500 collector and the Explorer look is so classic, so I had to track one down. These are pretty hard to find, and they are faked a lot, but I was patient and got a bit lucky. It has a 34mm case and a 1520 "precision" movement. It is dated to 1971, and had its dial replaced by Rolex during a service about 10 years before I purchased it.
